Indoor Environmentalist TrainingMold, bacteria, allergens and invisible but potentially deadly gases such as radon and carbon monoxide can adversely affect the air quality in a home or business. As a Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE), you will have the knowledge and skill set to help homeowners, facility managers and business operators rid their property of harmful contaminants, giving them the peace of mind knowing the air they breathe on a daily basis is clean and healthy. Vista College offers an affordable online CIE certification course you can complete in the comfort of your home or office.

Our Course Leads to Certification

Successful completion of our 32-hour course will not only broaden your knowledge base regarding indoor air quality (IAQ) issues, but it will also prepare you to sit for the Certified Indoor Environmentalist exam given by the American Council for Accredited Certification. The ACAC offers a wide assortment of highly respected third-party certification programs for professionals across numerous industries. Certification validates your expertise and demonstrates to the clients you serve that you are a competent and trustworthy IAQ professional. Certification can also give you a competitive edge over non-certified consultants when seeking new business opportunities.

Learn Via Easy-to-Follow Video Lectures

Our online CIE training program consists of a series of easy-to-follow video lectures covering a wide range of pertinent IAQ topics. You will become well versed in the various contaminants that can jeopardize air quality and gain a thorough understanding of the basics of building science. You will also learn about the impact that HVAC systems can have on an indoor environment. As the program progresses, you will discover how to diagnose and resolve typical IAQ issues and prevent them from occurring in the first place. Your course materials include a PDF workbook to supplement the video presentations, as well as practice questions and a practice certification exam to help you gauge your level of understanding along the way.

Preparing for the Vista College CIE Course

While there are no prerequisites for enrolling in the CIE course, students who wish to pursue certification must meet certain ACAC requirements. You must have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of documented IAQ field experience. To gain access to the videos, you need a Web-enabled computer (high-speed Internet connection is also recommended) equipped with the Windows XP operating system or later version and the IE 7 or later Web browser. You can also view the videos via your iPad or other iOS device.

Self-Directed Learning at Your Own Pace

Online learning gives you greater control over your educational experience. You can study at your own pace without the pressure of a traditional classroom environment. You can view the course materials whenever you have the time, so you can easily fit your studies around your work and family obligations. Our CIE course is administered by a highly experienced instructor who offers a combination of a wealth of real-world IAQ experience and a sincere desire to help you succeed. You will have six months to complete the program, and a 90-day extension is available for a one-time fee of $90 should you need more time.
